DIP Switch ↔ DMX Address
Convert DMX addresses to binary DIP settings and read the address from interactive switches.
Planning aid only. Verify switch orientation, numbering and offset in the fixture manual. A tenth switch is often a mode switch, not an address bit. Verify equipment specifications and on-site conditions before the show.

How to use this tool
Switch 1 is the least significant bit (weight 1), followed by 2, 4, 8 and so on. Binary sum is the total of all ON switches. Address = sum + selected offset.
With offset 0, address 37 uses weights 1 + 4 + 32: switches 1, 3 and 6. With offset 1, address 37 encodes 36 instead. Only addresses 1–512 are valid DMX start addresses.
FAQ
Is switch 10 always binary?
No. On many fixtures it selects a mode, not weight 512. Use 9-switch mode unless the fixture manual explicitly says otherwise.
Why can address 512 be unavailable?
Nine bits encode 0–511. With offset 0, 512 needs a tenth binary switch. With offset 1, all nine switches ON gives address 512.
