LEKO Coverage Planner
Plan ellipsoidal field coverage from throw or work backward from a target area, fixture count and lens.
Planning aid only. Ideal circular field geometry only. Lens field angles and intensity distributions vary. This does not certify rigging or uniform illumination. Verify equipment specifications and on-site conditions before the show.

How to use this tool
Choose units, target rectangle and overlap allowance. From throw, the planner selects the narrowest standard lens that covers the rectangle with no more than your preferred count, if possible. Compare all lens choices below.
From target, a chosen lens and available count determine the minimum perpendicular throw. A zoom gives a throw range. Aim points are cell centers, measured from the target’s near-left corner.
Geometry and overlap
Field diameter D = 2T tan(θ/2). Each rectangular grid cell fits inside a usable circle D(1 − overlap). This conservative cell-diagonal rule avoids uncovered corners; overlap is a geometric reserve, not a promise of uniform lux. Fixtures share a normal axis to a flat target. Rigging height, front-light angle, shutters, tilt and photometric falloff are not modeled.
FAQ
What counts as coverage?
The field circle contains each cell, not just its width. Field edge is commonly around 10% of peak; use a photometric plot to judge evenness.
Why do I need a lens in target mode?
Area and count alone cannot determine throw: the lens angle is also required. The planner searches rectangular grids using no more than the entered count.
Are the positions rigging coordinates?
No. They are target-plane aim points. Work out safe mounting and focus positions separately.
