Generator & Distro
Build a gear list, choose single-phase or 3-phase 120/208 V, see phase balance with suggestions, total kVA with 80% continuous derate, and a generator size class.
Use at your own risk. This is not an electrical design or a substitute for a licensed electrician. Wattages are typical planning figures. Confirm nameplates, connector ratings, cam-lok / feeder sizing, grounding, and local code before any show. Incorrect power can injure people and destroy gear.

Sources
- Continuous loads: plan generator capacity so continuous load ≤ ~80% of rating.
- kVA ≈ kW ÷ power factor. Default PF 0.8 for mixed show loads.
- 3-phase auto-balance uses first-fit decreasing onto the lightest phase.
- Cam-lok / feeder notes are reminders only — a licensed electrician must size and install.
What this generator planner does
It totals show wattage, optionally balances 3-phase legs, applies continuous-load derating, and suggests a generator kVA class.
Worked example
12 kW of mixed load at PF 0.8 → 15 kVA raw → ÷0.8 continuous ≈ 18.75 kVA → suggest a 25 kVA class genset with headroom.
FAQ
Why divide by 0.8?
Continuous loads are commonly planned at 80% of generator or breaker capacity.
Is auto phase balance perfect?
No. It greedily places loads on the lightest phase. Verify on site.
Can I use this instead of an electrician?
No. Hire a licensed electrician for design, tie-in, and safety.
Powering a show?
Kynetic plans distro and soft-power for corporate and medical events.
